Midwest SOARRING Foundation Scholarship, application deadline July 15, 2017

Midwest SOARRING Foundation is pleased to announce their 2017 scholarship for all students of native ancestry or interest in Native American culture who are pursuing advanced degrees and trades in undergraduate or graduate education in any field. While tribal enrollment or native ancestry is not required, they are interested in applicants who can demonstrate their positive involvement in their community with native American cultural activities and/or advancing Indigenous concerns.

Midwest SOARRING Foundation assists in repatriation, protection of sacred sites, environmental issues, and educating the public about Native American culture, important to our history and identity. The scholarship amount is $1,000 and will be announced at the 23rd Annual Harvest Pow Wow, Sunday, September 24, 2017. The Pow Wow takes place at the Naper Settlement, 523 Webster St., Naperville, IL. The final decision to award the scholarship is at the discretion of the Midwest SOARRING Scholarship Committee.

Interest applicants must fill out the Scholarship Application form, obtain a letter of recommendation from a teacher/professor, employer, or community service director; submit a 500 word essay as detailed on the application form, and a recent copy of school transcripts. Scholarship applications must be postmarked by July 15, 2017. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
